I love the distorted guitar’s high dissonant chords that keep coming back throughout the song.
Deerhoof is an incredible experimental band. I mean you hear some of it here, no real lyrics and just a voice seeming to imitate the title of the song. They do sing “I wanna be friends with Lucas” & “Sailors in the Sea” which is virtually undiscernable. Still, this is one of Deerhoof’s more accessible songs that seems to have more of a structure rather than an ambient feeling, this distinctly has more of a Rock sound.
After the intro they go into the driving rhythm of the other guitars and bass that eventually leads into what I think are harmonizing recorders. I love them as their constant changes make for great soundtrack music. I haven’t used them a lot yet in my work, but I absolutely could find a place for their music under video so easily. They are a simple rock setup who keep you entertained.
