Justin Joseph Hall is a multilingual Editor with 15 years of experience in New York. He’s had repeated success in both fiction & non-fiction with projects picked up by HBO, Top 10 on Netflix, as well as being awarded at The Emmys & the Tribeca Film Festival.
A son of two teachers from Minnesota, Justin’s smooth, melancholic juxtapositions create beauty from chaos. Discovering new perspectives that reveal the world we live in captivates and drives him in life and work. He became fluent in French after seeing Jean-Luc Godard’s Breathless (1960), learned Spanish for love, Portuguese for family, and married into Italian. His deep knowledge of cinematic history allows him to dig fresh space within media’s diverse landscape. He states, “The execution of an idea is more important than the idea itself.” Through these firm principals, looks to solve complex problems in society via art and storytelling .
As an Editor, Justin leans into the feelings of the characters in his scenes, creating empathy for audiences. Examples of success include pitching and developing Axios (2018-2021) as Senior Editor for the Emmy-winning documentary series, The Top 10 Netflix mini-series American Godfathers: The Five Families, & the narrative short, Abuela’s Luck (2018) which was picked up by HBO.
